Fedco Batteries Privacy Policy
Overview
Our privacy policy is simple: your data is none of our business. We make money by selling batteries and other electrical power products, not by mining your personal information.
To the extent that our website can provide it's functionality without doing so, we prefer to avoid collecting data from you.
In the cases where we do collect data, we try to be clear about why we're collecting it, tell you how long we keep it, and delete it when we no longer need it.
We use modern security measures to protect collected data, and limit access to only those employees who require access to perform their jobs. We may be legally required to disclose collected data to law enforcement or government agencies in some situations.
Website Data Collection
When you interact with our servers using a web browser, or indirectly by network requests sent on your behalf to our APIs, some metadata about the request is logged. This metadata may include:
- your IP address (may reveal your approximate geographic location (i.e. what city that IP address is believed to be assigned to))
- the name of the resource (web page) requested
- the name and version number of the software making the request (may reveal information about your web browser, operating system, and their configuration)
- whether or not the request was successful
- current date and time
We generally don't look at these logs unless a server is malfunctioning or appears to be getting used in a malicious way. We may look at the information in aggregate to see broad statistics such as which web pages are popular at the moment, or from which source an unusually high amount of network traffic is arriving.
Fedco Batteries and our Web Analytics provider (clicky.com) will likely place a cookie on your hard drive during the web visit. A cookie is a unique alphanumeric identifier that we use to determine the number of unique visitors that view our website, whether or not those visitors are repeat visitors, and the source of the visits. Cookies cannot be executed as code or used to deliver a virus. Other servers cannot read cookies and personal information cannot be gathered from cookies. Cookies are simply an identifier shared between you and us to allow us to improve the services we offer to you through our website. If you do not wish cookies to be placed on your computer, then they can be disabled in your web browser. The option to do so is normally found in your browser's "security settings" section. However, please note, permanently disabling cookies in your browser may hinder your use of our website as well as other websites and interactive services.
Email List
You may be given an opportunity to sign up for our email newsletter when you visit our websites. If you decline, no data will be sent. If you accept, the email address you provide will be added to our email list.
Our email list is low volume (only a few messages per year is typical.)
We do not sell or otherwise disclose any portion of our email list to third-parties, with the exception of the vendor that provides our mailing list services as necessary to distribute the emails.
If you join our email list, we retain your email address until you ask to be removed. Instructions on how to unsubscribe are contained in all messages sent to the email list.
Sales Data Collection
We do not sell directly to the public. All sales are conducted to resellers and establish an ongoing business relationship. Due to the evolution of batteries from being durable consumer goods to a potential Hazardous Material, regulations and cell suppliers require Fedco Batteries to keep records of sales for longer periods of time then may be customary in other industries. We generally keep sales data for at least 5 years in case a product recall is necessitated.
At the time of sale, we collect the billing and shipping information including: name, address, and contact phone number and/or email.
We do not sell or otherwise disclose this information to third-parties, except as required to complete your transaction. For example, for credit card payment orders, we send it to our credit card processor once at the time of purchase in order to authorize the transaction.
For orders placed by credit card, we do not store any credit card information on our web server for longer then it takes to transfer the order to our accounting system. The website does not keep or maintain credit card numbers "on file."
Pre-Sales and Support Interactions
When handling sales & support requests from you, we collect:
- your email address and/or phone number
- any information you provide voluntarily (example: the products / part numbers you are looking for a battery for)
This information is collected solely to help resolve your inquiry. We retain support emails indefinitely in order to:
- have context from previous interactions which may help us answer your future questions more quickly
- identify broad trends in support requests, which may help us identify and solve problems with our products

Backed-up Data
As it is reasonable to expect, we keep backups of company data so that a catastrophic data loss event doesn't put us out of business. Although collected personal data expires from our "active" data set according to the schedules mentioned above, it may persist in backups for up to 6 months. Backups are only accessible to specially privileged employees who perform system administration tasks. We consider the backups "cold storage" and we don't pull data from them unless a significant data loss event has occurred.
Rights of EU Citizens Under GDPR
Citizens of the EU may exercise their rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, such as the rights of access and erasure, by contacting us with their request. We recommend emailing the request to sales@fedcobatteries.com.
